In Jackson Hole, on Aug 21, 2017 at 11:34 am, there will be a total eclipse of the sun. Total solar eclipses are rare at any particular location because totality exists only along a narrow path on the Earth's surface. Kathryn Brackenridge "eclipse coordinator " hired by the town of Jackson and Teton County says local people aren't ready for the crowds and chaos. "You would be surprised how many people have no idea (how big this event will be)", she stated in today's paper. But the people in the know, "...are keen to get their eclipse on in Jackson Hole." The word of Jackson's desirability as a viewing site has reached some people however; in fact thousands are expected to flood the area.
But where to view this rare event? Jackson airport director Jim Elwood has solved my problem! The center line of the eclipse "goes through gate nine at the (Jackson) airport" Thanks Jim! Moe and I are sitting at Gate 9 right now, waiting to fly to Boston to visit friends and family before going abroad. But if I didn't move from this spot until 11:34 am Aug 21 I would have the best seat in the house......
